Ancient DOS Games --- Episode 91

Reaping the Dungeon

Additional Information and Corrections:

  • Here's a link to the page with more information about getting the full version of this game for free: http://www.heuse.com/free.html

  • If you'd rather try the shareware version first, here's a link to a page on the DOS Games website where you can download it from: http://www.dosgames.com/g_rpg.php

  • Some places say this game was released in 1994 but all I can find out for certain is that v1.1 was released in 1994. While I'm fairly certain v1.0 came out in 1993, I can't find a copy to verify this with.

  • Ron Heuse was working on a sequel to this game at some point but it has yet to materialize and I wasn't able to find out anything about it when I contacted him. I was actually thinking of making a similar game at some point with hardware acceleration, maybe even getting permission to release it as a sequel, but all that came of this idea was a very basic game engine. :P

  • After this game, Ron Heuse got into making Mahjong software, much like Steve Moraff did after he made his 3D dungeon crawls... Maybe these two guys are related somehow? In any case, if you wanna check out Ron's Mahjong software, just head to his homepage: http://www.heuse.com

  • If you need some additional help getting into this game (since it can be fairly difficult to start anew) this page might help you out: http://www.heuse.com/reapshot.htm
