Ancient DOS Games --- Episode 124

Another World / Out of This World

Additional Information and Corrections:

  • The game's available on GOG now! Follow this link if you'd rather buy it from there instead of from Steam: http://www.gog.com/game/another_world_20th_anniversary_edition

  • Or, if you'd still rather get the game on Steam instead, follow this link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/233550

  • Éric Chahi also has a website dedicated to the game, translated to multiple languages, which you can find here: http://www.anotherworld.fr

  • Yeah, I was having trouble pronouncing Éric Chahi's name correctly. I had a French friend of mine helping me a bit but I'm sure I still messed it up. ^_^;

  • It's actually the Roland LAPC-I that the game supports, not the MT-32. The reason this matters, even though the LAPC-I is basically an MT-32 on a card, is that it has a few more features over the MT-32. :P

  • This game actually underwent a bit of censoring in certain versions, notably the SNES port, as there's blood effects in multiple parts of the game. I did my best to keep them minimized so I wouldn't have to bump this video into Red Mode. The only really excessive effect anywhere in this video is hidden behind the blue of the game stats and is easy to miss, let alone realize is even blood. ;)

  • The game ALSO happens to be known as "Outer World" in Japan, though I'm not sure what sparked the name change over there.
