Ancient DOS Games --- Episode 186

Little Big Adventure / Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure

Additional Information and Corrections:

  • Here's a link to the page on GOG you can buy this game from: https://www.gog.com/game/little_big_adventure

  • Supposedly, Activision had something to do with distributing this game in North America and other markets, but I can't find any evidence that this ever happened. They WERE responsible however for handling at least some of the publishing with the sequel.

  • Some people may argue that the game wasn't actually rushed as there's virtually no evidence of this online. However, I would counter that by saying that if you have to cut a major feature from the game (in this case, controllable vehicles) then your deadlines are too short and you're not doing as good a job as you should be, thus, rushed. :P

  • The numbers on the names in the credits are actually the internal rankings of correct guesses which I track... I forgot to take them out when copy-pasting the names into the credits. Whoops! I'd take 'em out, but this episode's going up a number of hours late as it is so oh well, not gonna re-render for something trivial like that. :B

  • The checkpoints are stranger than I realized... It turns out that certain key events are saved to your file, regardless of the state of the save file, meaning it's possible to trigger certain key events, then end up getting a game over, going back, and technically have an area incomplete yet still have the key events for it triggered. I believe the game breaking bug which can occur later in is related to this, though when I died during the temple as shown in the video, that was actually another moment like that and I could've actually skipped 80% of what I had to do to get back to where I was, despite how far back the game technically put me.

  • I think I've been mixing up the red and green colourations for the sound and music supports in the game stats lately... Whoops. :P
